About Me
Hi! I'm Emily. I've been practicing as a marriage and family therapist since 2018 and I feel at home in this profession. I am a mom of two kids with a dog and cat. When I'm not working, I like playing with my kids, watching documentaries, exploring new places, seeing live music, and reading.

My main specialties include trauma and couples therapy.
I work hard to create an affirming, safe, and culturally
humble space for my clients.

My areas of interest include:
-
Couples therapy
-
Family therapy
-
LGBTQIA+ populations
-
Intimate partner violence
-
Early childhood trauma
-
Parenting
-
Religious trauma
-
Disability populations (& their caregivers)

My Therapy Philosophy
I'm a big believer in the grey. The grey is the space that exists between black and white. The grey is the middle ground between two extremes. The grey is: “What about both?” when our anxieties and fears tell us: “You have to choose one or the other.” There is comfort in the grey because it means we don’t have to have the answers right now. It means that we have choice, agency, power in a life that we may feel powerless. It means that we, despite our best efforts and intentions, will fail and make mistakes—and there is freedom in accepting this as reality. All that we can do is try. Trying is the grey. The grey is where we can feel safe to be vulnerable. The grey is where we can find our authentic selves. The grey is true peace and freedom to exist in the world in the exact, true way I was meant to.

The grey is also where you will find me.

Do you want to explore those possibilities? Do you want permission to not know what the next step is? Do you want a presence who will honor your innate beauty in supporting your personal dreams, your romantic partnership, and your family? Do you want to find safety, comfort, and love in a relationship that has felt heavy with hurt? Do you want someone who will enter with you into the deep, dark parts of your past and present, so that we can pull back the curtains of self-doubt and shame? Who will find the pockets of light within you and expand them to brighten the darkness?

If you answered 'yes' to any of those questions, this might be the place for you. I utilize concepts from multiple therapeutic models in my work, including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Narrative Therapy, & Bowenian Therapy. Utilizing multiple therapeutic models and techniques allows me to be flexible and dynamic for your needs. (And, if what you required is outside of my expertise and knowledge, I will work hard to find the provider that fits for you.)
I hope you’re here because you know you are worth investing time in. Whatever challenge you are facing, whatever you are fearing, I am here to walk with you through it. I’m in the grey with you and for you. I hope I can be a part of your journey!
